Community Awareness Project Seven

C.A.P.S. is a dynamic inner city outreach program designed to reach the youth of our communities through music, testimony and education addressing the seven major problems facing today’s youth and our society as a whole.

1. Drugs: Arkansas is home to more crystal methamphetamine labs per capita than anywhere else in the United States.
2. Alcohol: Alcohol related highway deaths are the number 1 killer of people ages 15 to 24. Plus recent studies indicate that youths indulging in alcohol usage at such a young age are more susceptible to greater problems later in life including poor health, poverty, and criminal activity.
3. Pornography: 60% of all website visits are sexual in nature. 25 million Americans visit these illicit sites up to 10 hours per week. Sadly the primary pornography consumer group is boys between ages 12 to 17. This is not even to mention the hive of perverse pedophiles stalking both our young boys and girls, sometimes leading to their molestation and murder.
4. Suicide: The teen suicide rate has risen an astonishing 200 percent in the last 40 years. Suicide is the leading cause of death in ages 15 to 24.
5. Depression: Depression is a serious disease that knows no bounds. Millions of Americans fall pray to this debilitating illness before they even realize how severe the sickness has become.
6. Violence: Today’s youth are bombarded with violent images almost every waking moment. From video games to the lyrics of some popular music violence has become a normal and acceptable form of expression.
7. Addictions: Many in our society find themselves turning not only to the “traditional” addictions of old in their quest for acceptance. In many cases they become trapped in dependence on and involving sex, gambling, codependency and many other debilitating behaviors.
